My contemporary/non-representational paintings explore Place in another way. These paintings are born of my listening to world music, and my musings on faraway places- cultures other than my own, ancient and modern. The emphasis here is on on pattern and texture. For color inspiration I find color combinations in the natural world and I look to the palettes of other cultures-- in architecture, artifacts, textiles and topography.
I enjoy designing and painting custom contemporary pieces for private residences. We meet, I get a sense of the space, we discuss your preferences. I then paint a small scale version of my design idea(s) to present to you. Following your approval, I create your original art. Artwork custom designed for your home, brings a homeowner special joy and fulfillment.
